Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co (KKR) was launched by Henry Kravis and his partner George Roberts in the seventies with the assistance of the First Chicago Corporation. Recently they have assembled a unique green project that focuses not alone on profitability, but likewise on how ecologically aware each of the corporations in their portfolio currently are. When Henry Kravis from KKR and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) joined forces a year ago green matters in the business community became major topic of dicussion. Significant green issues like water pollution and outrageous water consumption feature high on their agenda. To accomplish these goals, they apply eco-efficiency which calls for concepts such as reducing the intensity of materials, recycling programs, and reducing the dispersion of toxic chemicals. The project was well received, but the management did not realize the entirety of the advantages of the program until Ken Mehlman, the head of the project and global public affairs, studied the program when it had been operating for its first twelve months.

Factually knocking off everyone’s expectations, Ken realized that the Green Portfolio Project not only raised environmental responsibility, but also increased the the profit from each company as well. Up to now, KKR and Ken Mehlman have nearly every associated organization involved in eco-efficiency. When you think about the fact that the group is worth almost $100 billion dollars, you can imagine what a challenge this actually is.

Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co with the Environmental Defense Fund in association with Ken Mehlman have also enlarged on the original program. For instance, Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co joined the Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate Corps Program a venture that teaches MBA students how to promote cost-efficient, green practices.

KKR and Ken Mehlman have taken the time to develop products that evaluate and oversee various resources. With this information available, companies may without much effort assess each of their daily operations and find out exactly how they can improve while at the same time tracking their progress.

Today’s business community has been entirely transformed by the pioneering work of these individuals. Their fresh concepts have simplified the process for business organizations in every sector and proved that making profits need not entail the hefty price of negatively impacting our planet.
